Conservative Scare Tactics on Global Warming

Well for those who aren't at mkw.com, then you probably don't know that I don't like the way the free market runs. What they want is your money and what they want is not to have any form of government to interfere. Why you may ask? Well it's simple, policies created to protect the people are made, the free market has to follow them and their money goes down.

"The Yes Men Fix the World" really opened my eyes to the free market, housing, insurance, stock, they all are just greedy. Dow bought out Union Carbide after the disaster at Bhopal (a Union Carbide pesticide factory explodes in India), they payed Bhopal with chump change so to say, they payed over $450 million. The Indian government was representing the families of those 10,000 people that died! Union Carbide lawyers made sure that they delayed legal proceedings and squeezed this little amount. Do you know that toxins are STILL in the water at Bhopal? That's right, after Dow bought it; they never would take full responsibility for what happened over 20 years ago, what used to be Union Carbide, believes that the whole thing was sabotage. Unfortunately the government didn't have any regulations for them to follow; they were free to do what they wished and collect the wealth. Dow payed extremely little to fully compensate the victims.

The Yes Men, "Jude Finisterra" posed as a Dow representative in 2004. He made a fake website and was invited to speak about Dow's responsibilities on BBC. He said that Dow would fully compensate victims and families of the Bhopal tragedy and take full responsibility. Dow's stock went down $2 million is market value in 23 minutes. Just several Hours later this was proved to be a hoax and in the great documentary movie of The Yes Men, they said it best, when you were growing up, if you did something good, you get a reward. When this company did something terrific, well, they didn't do too good.

Back in modern day I have two videos to show you. Why doesn't the free market want government to label CO2 as a pollutant? Hear what they have to say.

AND.

How must we depend of these things? "We depend on these fuels?" What does that even mean, did we suddenly make new machines that require carbon dioxide to run? Well no, what they are actually saying is that if the government labels Carbon Dioxide as a pollutant (which it is), then certain free market industries must cut back on their emissions. This costs a little bit of money to do actually. They love Carbon Dioxide so much that they don't mind the deforestation going on, we expel more CO2 on Earth every year than the plants can fix. Let's face it; there are fewer trees everyday and more people every minute. If government forces cutbacks on emissions, I'm all for it, it only seems logical to keep people and the environment above money, don't you agree at all? I do.

Venting on Teacher

My intelligence was indirectly insulted the other day while sitting thorough my Public Speaking class. If you're asking what is a Public Speaking class, well it's very simply, learning to speak publicly, including debates. So what better way to pick a topic than voting for it? Each person was to put their wanted topic on a piece of paper. Well being a junior, and having good interests in government and politics, I put one where I would want to really debate.

Results were in:
Guess the surprising part, most of the voters picked typical topics.

Abortion was the most picked, I'm very sure I've debated this in school about 50 tomes over, it's redundant to have to do it again.

Death Penalty came in second it's the topic everyone has debated about 20 times, I was very annoyed!

Finally, the third was a compilation of different government related topics, that is where one of my votes came in. My Public Speaking/Debate teacher read through them and was dissapointed, she expected a "good" topic. The last one she read was mine saying, "Should government begin to regulate the Free Market?" and you know what she did? She said, "tsk, tsk, tsk" I was furious, did she even know what the free market was!?

I am stuck in the class with a bunch of classmates that don't care for topics that may need adavanced research to do. My teacher is giving the class rudimentary topics that have been discussed countless of times. Do you want to know what my friend in Texas had to do for a debate? She had to argue about the economic situation in AFRICA! That's right It just feels like this is dumbing my brain down, it's awfully sad aswell.

But alas, I had to pick at topic in order to recieve a grade, I had to choose between abortion, death penalty, of the FCAT (state rquired test). I picked death penalty.

"An eye for an eye"
"An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind"

Which side do you pick?
